Diaspora Diplomacy

One of the most emphasized areas in the context of public diplomacy in recent years is diaspora diplomacy. The use of diaspora as a general concept for cross-border communities is not very old. Although it is academically controversial, the concept is seen to be used frequently today. Foreign populations who migrate to their own countries or belong to subsequent generations of immigrants become spokespersons or representatives of their former homeland, provided that they preserve their ethnic, religious and cultural identities. They consider it their duty to protect the interests of the country where they live with a sense of belonging, and they organize and carry out activities in this direction. The fact that this group attains a respected position in the societies it lives in is closely related to its level of organization.
