The Role of Public Diplomacy in International Crisis Management

Public diplomacy is becoming increasingly important in international relations. This research examines how public diplomacy has become an effective tool in international crisis management.

In times of crisis, relations between states are often tense. In such situations, public diplomacy can have a critical role in reducing tensions by promoting mutual understanding between the parties. Especially thanks to mass media such as social media, television and radio, countries can increase mutual trust by sharing accurate and balanced information in times of crisis.

For example, in natural disasters, thanks to public diplomacy, affected countries can communicate aid offers more effectively and ensure rapid aid coordination. Likewise, in political crises, public diplomacy can help prevent a possible conflict by ensuring the continuation of dialogue between the parties.

As a result, public diplomacy should be considered an effective tool in international crisis management. It is recommended that states actively use public diplomacy strategies to ensure the continuation of information sharing and dialogue in times of crisis.
